Parks Maintenance Worker, City of Leawood (Leawood, KS)

The Parks Maintenance Worker will assist the horticulture and forestry crews in the on-going maintenance of City-owned parks and recreation facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to tree/shrub planting, pruning, and removal, general maintenance of landscape beds, pest control applications, and aiding with greenhouse duties.

Education and/or Experience

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years’ of experience in landscaping, arboriculture, or forestry or equivalent education, preferred. Certified Arborist and/or Commercial Pesticide Applicator License preferred. Completion of NIMS requirements within one year of hire. Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes and tanker endorsements or obtain within six months (6 months) of hire. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.

Finalists will be subject to the Post-Offer Testing below:

  • Background Investigation
  • Drug Screening / Breath Alcohol Testing
  • Medical Evaluation / Essential Functions
  • Motor Vehicle Records Search (On-Going)

Starting Rate of Pay: $14.43 – $19.25/ hour, DOQ (This is a benefits eligible non-exempt position.)
