The Arborist for the City Of Dalton is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing urban forestry activities.
The individual is responsible for diagnosing tree health and determining proper treatment on City ROW and City-owned properties; developing budgets for the selection, purchasing, and planting of City-owned trees; recommending, developing, and administering urban forestry plans, policies, and procedures; interfacing with the public concerning tree health care questions; and taking bids from contractors engaged in hazard tree removal.
Responsibilities also include review and evaluation of construction permits following applicable City Vegetation and Buffer Zone Ordinances.
The candidate must be able to clearly disseminate technical information, give advice to public officials and general public regarding forestry-related regulations, proper forestry techniques, and tree health issues.
The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field and is currently ISA-Certified. This will be a part-time position not to exceed 24 hours a week. To be considered for this role please contact:
