By Conni Kunzler | August 7, 2017

Atlanta GA (August 7, 2017) – Alliance for Community Trees members have a great opportunity to engage local Rotaries in tree planting! The new organization President is asking all Rotarians to plant a tree for every member — there are about 1.2 million!

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad.

Trees Forever President Shannon Ramsay, a Rotarian herself, attended the International Rotary Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. It was there that the new President, Ian H.S. Riseley of Australia, asked all Rotarians around the world to plant a tree for every member.

For years Rotary Clubs have helped with tree plantings, and in fact the Rotary Club of Marion, Iowa, donates to Trees Forever for every speaker. “To have the International President launching a tree planting campaign along with a focus on environmental sustainability is a very big deal,” says Ramsay, “and one I am very proud of as a Rotarian. Trees Forever will be encouraging local groups to engage with their Rotaries this year.”

For local Alliance for Community Trees members, it is an opportunity to recruit new board members and volunteers, raise funds for projects and educate Rotarians on their missions.
