The City of San Diego invites applications for City Forester, to develop and lead city-wide urban forestry programs. Senior-level management position responsible for urban forestry operations, tree preservation, tree planting and care, oversight and analysis, forestry emergency response and risk management, and supervision of field staff and contractors.
S/he serves as a liaison to the Community Forest Advisory Board and other community groups; provides technical and professional guidance to property owners and other City departments; and identifies strategies and policies for proactively implementing the General Plan (2008), Climate Action Plan (2015), and Urban Forest Management Five-year Plan (2017).
City Forester works with senior staff on associated budget, procurement, personnel, training, productivity reporting, database management, and related administrative support.
