Children Work on Keep Gastonia Beautiful Project

Gastonia, NC (November 6, 2007)- Keep Gastonia Beautiful received a grant from the Alliance for Community Trees to fund a NeighborWoods project in the Highland community with the Gaston Boys and Girls Club. This was coordinated through Keep Gastonia Beautiful, City of Gastonia Community Development, City of Gastonia Landscaping Division, Ford’s Seed Store, and Mia Massey with the Gaston Boys and Girls Club.

A total of 125 Children participated:
* Planting greenery in their atrium
* Making framed pictures by leaf rubbing
* Making Tree disc necklaces
* Watching a presentation by Twiggy the Talking Tree, Dawn Carr
“The children had great experiences, they learned the importance of trees and their role in our environment and what we all can do to make a difference in our community,” said Pat Johnson, administrator, KGB.
